When All Saints College, Bull Creek, WA held a “Pasar Malam” or night market in their grounds, the local ShelterBox team were invited to attend. The team erected a relief tent and set up a box display that attracted much attention.
ShelterBox Ambassador, June Wade, from the Rotary Club of South Perth-Berswood said,
“One of the people who visited the ShelterBox was the Head of the Senior School, Mr Steve Young, he was impressed with the concept of ShelterBox and put the idea forward to raise money for a ShelterBox to his students. They had a sausage sizzle which raised some money and then had the idea of a Cake Bake. Mums, Grandmothers, Aunts and friends did the baking and they had so many cakes and biscuits that they were able to sell them to the rest of the school during morning and afternoon recess and lunch time. There was great enthusiasm and when one of the students was sick his Mum still drove to school to drop off the cakes she had baked. The funds raised were topped up with the gold coin donations raised by the Parents and Friends Society. A great team effort.”
A great team effort indeed, as the school raised a whopping $2254.55 to help families who have lost everything to disaster. Thank you All Saints and all who supported them.
